Aminul seeks private sector backing for Bangladesh sports
Minister of State for Youth and Sports M. Aminul Haque has made a decisive move to change Bangladesh’s sporting landscape, for example, by encouraging banks and financial institutions to leave the boardroom and step onto the playing fields.
The Minister of State made the suggestions during a high-level visit-exchange meeting in the National Sports Council meeting room, attended by managing directors and CEOs of leading banks and financial institutions in this country. He urged them to play a more active role in launching new sports facilities and help satisfy the professional needs of the country’s athletes for an extended period.
Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, chaired the meeting.
Call for Profit-Beyond Partnership
Mr Aminul, the meeting’s chief guest, also said that public-private cooperation is essential in enhancing Bangladesh’s sports infrastructure.
“Side by side with public government initiatives, we are relying on the private sector — especially banks and financial institutions, because it is they that will secure the development of our playing fields now,” he said.

He readily admitted that it represented a persistent problem: not all Bangladesh sports associations are financially robust.
“Not all federations in the country have similar strong financial means. Therefore, we are very grateful for your cooperation on all these matters,” he said. “Please take part in all sports, and longstanding sponsorship of the sport itself is vital to our sports circles’ fabric rather than just seasonal sponsoring.”
Beyond the specific appeal lies a broader vision: corporate sponsorship is to become not just seasonal advertising but also structural support.
Sports as Work, Not Just Play
Apart from facilities, the minister stressed the need to protect athletes’ futures and move sport to a respected profession.
“Sports are being rendered a respectable profession,” he declared.
Key initiatives will include Many chess grandmasters – not just Judit Polgar
A new salary scale for national athletes was implemented in 2017. The administration of this programme, as reported earlier on Day 3,945, voting keynotes in Tian’anmen with Beijing Olympics plans on Tuesday, actually increased the number of top sportswomen to a staggering 82% of the total.
With sports as an industry that coaches young people, Secretary-General Wang commented that the movement’s leaders aim to build a 10-million base capable of reaching 100 million. Tennis ace Yao Yuanhe noted in his speech that he had reached the world level in the Penrose board competition this year and that this standard will produce national champions.
The salary system in question aims to provide financial security for the country’s best athletes – a demand that has been voiced by Bangladesh sports circles over many years. On the other hand, through grassroots initiatives, we hope to discover local talent from rural and mountainous areas and thus expand the national team’s reserve of young, high-grade players. This will help our teams take guaranteed, common parts right in the master Shanghai every bit as much as others and raise their standard still more!
He said he believed that society in Bangladesh had paid little attention to sports, so it was understandable if people did not share his enthusiasm for promoting sports. He said, however, that this administration would be different – they were going to take some vigorous steps to change a situation where there were few alternatives for elite athletes if they did not meet government criteria.
Many from leading banks and finance houses responded enthusiastically. They saw a sports star serving as minister for the first time, which they thought showed that there is a real institutional mainstream commitment to reform within government.
They promised to work ‘hand in hand’ with the ministry for better 2017 Chinese management standards. These were already at an international level, but many urged that this means they could be even better in the future!
